Countries by Language

Are you interested in knowing the languages spoken at your upcoming holiday destination?

Language

Learning some basic phrases in the local language can make your holiday experience truly unforgettable.

Communication Problem?

Do you worry about being unable to communicate in case of an issue at your destination?

While English is a widely spoken international language, there are still places in the world, particularly outside tourist areas, where it may not be spoken. I’ve experienced this first-hand!

It might be more comfortable for you to select a location where the language spoken is either your native tongue or one that you have a good command of.

In the table below, you can search by language. You can also type the name of the country you are interested in. It’ll show you the languages (official and widely spoken).

In my post, Best Time to Go, I also include the language spoken in each country, in case you have doubts.

When travelling to a foreign country where you don’t speak the language, I recommend downloading the Google Translate app to help you communicate effectively.

This online translator uses your phone’s camera to translate text from images to your language. It’s particularly handy when you’re eating at a restaurant!

If you were in the process of picking a destination when you got to this post but still haven’t decided, you could return to that point in Where to Go.

Have you already decided where your next adventure will be? Then, you are ready to move to the next phase of organising your trip with Step by Step.

Or, if you want to know the top attractions in that country first, you can check my post, Top Tourist Attractions.

I hope this post and the table of countries by language has been helpful to you.

Are you missing anything? Leave me your comment or suggestion below, and I will happily answer. Alternatively, fill out the contact form.😊

Additional Information

You can also check my itineraries in Itineraries. Here, you’ll find them classified in City Guides and Country Guides.

Alternatively, in the section Destinations, they are classified based on the type of trip:

šŸ“Œ If you prefer to see them separated by continents, check them in Portfolios.

Remember to check Cook up Your Trip. There, you will find everything you need to organise your trip from start to finish.
