Future Trips (Bucket List)
Have you ever found yourself daydreaming about the lush landscapes of Argentina, the paradisiacal beaches of Fiji, or the eternal beauty of Japan? That’s me, dreaming about my future trips (bucket list) every day! ?
As Saint Augustine once said: “The world is a book, and those who do not travel read only one page.” For me, each new destination is like opening a new chapter, with its history, culture, and hidden wonders to discover.
Bucket List ?
The list of countries I would like to visit is too long, but if I had to choose, these would be my top destinations:
1. Japan
I have been planning a trip to Japan for years, but I haven’t had the opportunity to go yet. Sometimes, it’s because I could take the time off work. I want to visit during the cherry blossom season, which limits my travel dates. Other times, unexpected events have come up at the last minute, causing me to postpone my plans. Additionally, a pandemic brought our lives to a standstill, further delaying my trip.
A blend of tradition and modernity, Japan seduces with ancient temples, serene gardens, futuristic cities and iconic cherry blossoms. From the timeless beauty of Kyoto to the bustling energy of Tokyo, Japan offers a unique cultural and culinary experience.
I plan to go next year, and I’m so committed that I am learning Japanese!
2. Argentina
This is another destination that has been on my list for years! I want to go from North to South, visiting the main sights along the way. The best time to go is in November or December, and I need at least three weeks for the trip. Unfortunately, I never have enough holidays during that time, as taking this trip would mean not travelling anywhere else for the rest of the year, and I find it hard to resist exploring other places!
When the pandemic started in 2020, during the first lockdown, I thought it might be the year to go. Since it was not possible to travel for several months, I would have enough days to go in November. So, I planned the whole trip with the ridiculous idea in my head that the pandemic would be over in a few months. Could I have been more naive? Obviously, the desire to travel clouded my mind again. Needless to say, I had to cancel it.
I have had to cancel it twice now after having everything booked. I hope the third time, I won’t have to.
Known for its vibrant culture, Argentina offers diverse experiences, from tango in Buenos Aires to the stunning Iguazu Falls and spectacular landscapes of Patagonia. It is also a foodie’s paradise, with world-renowned wines and an incredible asado (barbecue) culture.
3. Costa Rica
A destination that I consider every year but never had the opportunity to go.
With its lush rainforests, stunning beaches and remarkable biodiversity, Costa Rica is a paradise for nature lovers and adventurers alike.
4. Sri Lanka
I had planned to travel in March 2020. However, I had to cancel my flight just two days before departure, even though my luggage was already packed. It was due to the Sri Lankan government closing the country’s borders (COVID-19). It’s difficult to express how disappointing that experience was.
This island nation boasts a rich history, beautiful tea plantations and pretty beaches. Sri Lanka is also great for wildlife lovers, with national parks home to elephants, leopards and various bird species, all set against a backdrop of spectacular coastal and mountain scenery.
5. Peru
Home to the majestic Machu Picchu and vibrant Andean culture, Peru offers rich history, stunning scenery in the Sacred Valley and the culinary delights of Lima.
6. Maldives
With pristine white sand beaches, crystal clear waters and overwater bungalows, it is a perfect place to relax and enjoy unparalleled underwater beauty.
7. Antarctica
Promises surreal icy landscapes, close encounters with penguins and the chance to experience nature in its purest form.
8. Philippines
From the emerald green terraces of Banaue to the natural beaches of Palawan, the Philippines offers a warm and welcoming culture along with island-hopping adventures.
9. Chile
With the Atacama Desert, the majestic Andes and the spectacular landscapes of Patagonia, not to mention Torres del Paine National Park, Chile is a must-visit for outdoor enthusiasts and diverse natural beauty.
10. Puerto Rico
Known for its lively culture, vibrant music scene, and beautiful beaches, Puerto Rico also offers unique sites like the El Yunque rainforest and bioluminescent bays.
11. Hawaii
Known for its aloha spirit, Hawaii offers tropical beaches, volcanic landscapes, lush jungles, and surf culture. Making it perfect for both relaxation and adventure.
12. Iceland
The “Land of Fire and Ice” is a nature enthusiast’s dream, with stunning glaciers, volcanic landscapes, and the chance to witness the Northern Lights.
13. Myanmar
Rich in history and spirituality, Myanmar beckons visitors with its golden temples, ancient pagodas like Bagan, and a slower pace of life steeped in tradition.
14. Fiji
Known for its turquoise lagoons, coral reefs and friendly locals, Fiji offers idyllic beach days, excellent diving spots and a taste of South Pacific paradise.
I could continue listing destinations for my future trips indefinitely., but I’ll leave it there for now.…
I’ll keep you posted on how the preparations are going ??️?
